Ortega, Sidney February 26, 2009 Period 4-5 Eleven
The story we read is “Eleven” and it was written by Sandra Cisneros. It was about a girl named Rachel and about how her eleventh birthday gets ruined. I think that Rachel is credible (as in believable). She’s believable because she thinks she’s different ages. She doesn’t want to put on the sweater. She also starts to cry. First, she thinks she is different ages. “… when your eleven, your also ten, and nine, and eight, and seven, and six, and five ,and four, and three, and two, and one.” I think she is believable because thinking your different ages is typical for someone her age (some people thing they are different ages because some days they act like a certain age). Second, she doesn’t want to put the sweater on. “I move the red sweater to the corner of my desk…” I think she’s credible because if you don’t want to put something on you move it aside (some kids that don’t want to put on a T-shirt their mom wants them to put on they put it aside and get their favorite shirt and put it on).
Finally, she starts to cry. “… all of a sudden I’m crying in front of everybody.” I think she’s credible because if you get upset you start to cry (even someone 35 years old will cry if they’re upset).
I think that Rachel is very believable because of her actions in the story. She believes she is different ages at different times. She also does want to wear the red sweater. She starts crying because she was forced to wear the red sweater. So, this is why I think that Rachel is a credible character. Now you know why I think Rachel is credible.
